1977

Hollis Davis, the 72nd Master of Lodge #153 F & AM, was born in Kansas and came to Kennewick in 1942. He joined Kennewick Lodge while he was stationed at the Pasco Naval Air Station. Hollis has worked as a cabinetmaker, farmer, and ironworker. He is presently holder of the Cross of Honor from DeMolay and the Grand Cross of Colors from Rainbow Girls.

January 5, 1977
W. Brother Frank Greig was introduced as our guest Speaker. W. Brother Greig spoke on Masonry in Australia, explaining the difference in the ritual of the two countries. W. Brother Greig is Past Master of a Lodge in Adelaide and is the guest of W. B. Hollis. The Greigs made their visit coincide with the installation of Brother Hollis Davis, Worshipful Master.

W. Brother Paul Voss reported on the cornerstone laying for two buildings in Kennewick. The date will be the second Saturday in February with "All-Masonic" night following.

February 2, 1977
The Worshipful Master announced that the temple board is forced to raise our rent to $395 per month starting January 1, 1977.

March 16, 1977
W. Brother Floyd Ireland was escorted to the East and given public Grand Honors. The Worshipful Master read a list of Brother Floyd's accomplishments in his fifty years in Masonry and thanked him for his hard work for Kennewick Lodge.

May, 1977
Over 125 were in attendance to honor mothers.

June 15, 1977
The worshipful Master called the lodge from labor to refreshment and the guest and wives were escorted into the lodge room for the program honoring our retiring District Deputy V. W. C. Don Brons. Among the guests was the Grand Master M. W. Fred Sandoz. A dinner at which 150 were in attendance preceded the meeting.

October 5, 1977
Past Masters Night - Sixteen Past Masters formed a line west of the altar. They were greeted by the Worshipful Master who escorted them to the East where they were introduced and noted the year they served. Worshipful Master Hollis then presented them a copy of the prayer. “Last Night I Knelt Where Hiram Knelt.”

November 2, 1977
The Worshipful Master outlined the program on the cornerstone laying on November 12, 1977.

December 7, 1977
W. Brother Paul Voss moved that W. B. Floyd Ireland be made a Honorary member of Kennewick Lodge, seconded by W. B. Lawrence Scott, motion carried.

The Worshipful Master presented the Temple Board a cornerstone from the old Kennewick High School. This stone was laid in 1936.

Grand Lodge visited Kennewick Lodge twice during the year for the purpose of laying two cornerstones each time. On February 12, 1977, cornerstones were laid at the new fire station in Kennewick and at the Senior Citizens' Center. On November 12, cornerstones were laid at Desert Hills Middle School and at the Family Health Center. Both times lunch was served to the Grand Officers, their wives and Kennewick members and guests.
