1948

Lawrence Scott was Worshipful Master of the Lodge in 1948. He was born in Hope, Idaho and moved to Kennewick in 1921. He has served the city as Mayor and Council member for 37 years, longer than anyone else in the state. He has been a faithful member of the Kennewick Kiwanis Club for 45 years. He has served and worked on the Library for 31 years. He served as Secretary for the Scottish Rite Bodies for 26 years and is presently the secretary of our Lodge.

He was selected as "Man of the Year" for Kennewick in 1946. Brother Scottie has demonstrated the highest ideals of leadership and service to his community and has received awards from many civic and fraternal groups for his dedication. He is a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Scottie operated a service station for 52 years closing his business in October of 1980. He is a man who has given so much of himself to others, a man we can be proud to call our Brother.

1948

Kennewick Lodge continued to grow and degrees were exemplified even through the summer months. Brother Lawrence Scott and his officers, assisted by members, were kept plenty active. The Lodge had voted to purchase a new Bible; however, upon arrival, Brother Paul Stone (who was serving as secretary) presented the Bible as a gift from him, personally. He said it was just partial payment of the inspiration and help in life he had received by association with the members of this Lodge…

At that same July meeting the members voted to offer the use of the Lodge room during the month of August on first and third Mondays and all Tuesday evenings to Richland Lodge, since they had been denied the temporary use of their lodge room because of the flood.

A committee was also appointed this year to check the feasibility of a new temple.
